66 Sheep Street

A brand-new bakery, bistro and bar on Skipton High Street needed a website ready for opening day, one that explains two venues under one roof and gets people booking a table in a single tap.

Two Venues, One Address

66 Sheep Street is a bakery by day and a bistro by night, with a small bar, a Sunday roast and an upstairs room for private dining. In the morning there’s coffee and pastries from the hatch on Sheep Street. By Thursday evening it’s candlelight, cocktails and a proper dinner menu.

It’s a lovely idea. It’s also a hard one to explain on a phone screen in five seconds.

And it was brand new. No old website to improve, no reviews to lean on, no regulars yet. Whatever went live had to make a venue that hadn’t opened look like somewhere worth booking.

So I built them a website that lets every visitor find their version of 66 straight away, and book a table from any page.

The Challenge

Starting From Nothing

A new business with no existing site, no search history and no reviews. The website had to do the work of making a first impression before anyone had walked through the door.

Different Customers, Different Times

The breakfast crowd wants coffee and a pastry now. The evening crowd is planning dinner for Friday. Sunday is roasts. Put all of that on one page and nobody finds what they came for.

Lots of Hands on the Brand

A marketing and social media team were building the brand, the photography and the socials at the same time. The website needed to fit alongside that work, not pull in a different direction.

Bookings Can't Be Buried

For a restaurant, the website's main job is getting someone from 'that looks nice' to a booked table. That step had to be obvious everywhere.

What I Built

A website that explains the whole place clearly, and then points people to the bit they came for.

66 Sheep Street homepage

A Front Door That Splits Two Ways

  • One line to explain it: “Bakery by Day. Bistro by Night. We Roast on Sundays.” Everything a first-time visitor needs to know, before they scroll
  • “Choose your moment”: the homepage sends people straight to Bakery & Brunch or the Bistro, rather than making them work it out
  • The hatch gets its moment: the street-facing takeaway window is part of the story, so it’s part of the site

A Page for Every Reason to Visit

  • Bakery & Brunch, Bistro and Sunday Lunch: each with its own page, its own menu and its own reason to come
  • Private Hire & Events: a dedicated page for the upstairs dining room, for birthdays, celebrations and business dinners
  • About, Gallery and Contact: the people, the space and the practical details, all where you’d expect them

Booking in One Tap

  • “Book a table” on every page: in the header, on the homepage and throughout, going straight to the venue’s booking system
  • Tap-to-call phone number: for anyone who’d rather ring
  • Find us without hunting: address, map and opening hours on the homepage and in the footer

Built Alongside the Marketing Team

  • One look across everything: working with the marketing and social media team so the site matches the brand, photography and tone they were creating
  • Socials connected: Instagram, Facebook and TikTok linked throughout
  • Newsletter sign-up: so people who find 66 online have a reason to hear from them again

Ready for Opening

  • Policy pages in place: privacy, cookies, terms and allergen information ready at launch
  • Simple to update: built in WordPress and Elementor so the team can change menus, hours and news without waiting on a developer

The Results

Established From Day One

A new venue with a website that looks like it's been part of Skipton for years, ready to show a first-time visitor, a local paper or a party planner.

Every Visitor Finds Their 66

Brunch, dinner, Sunday lunch or a private party. Each has its own route, so nobody lands on the wrong menu.

Booking Is Always One Tap Away

The 'Book a table' button sits on every page, so the moment someone decides, there's nothing in the way.

One Brand, Everywhere

Website, socials and marketing all telling the same story in the same voice, because they were built together.

What the Client Says

“Thanks so much Steve, SO pleased with the website 🙏❤️❤️”

Looking Ahead

The doors are open and the site is live. From here it grows with the business: new menus as the seasons change, events as they’re announced, and a gallery that fills up as 66 finds its regulars.

Key Takeaways

For anyone opening a new restaurant, café or bar:

  1. Your website is your first review: before anyone has eaten with you, it’s the only thing they have to judge you on
  2. Let people choose their visit: if you do more than one thing, give each its own page and its own route in
  3. Put booking everywhere: don’t make someone go looking for the button once they’ve decided
  4. Build it with your marketing, not after it: one brand across the website and socials looks far more established than two
